CrossFit Kids 101

Our PhilosophyWe believe kids should be exposed to potent, effective, and functional movement with appropriate coaching and cueing. However, our ultimate goal is linking fitness with fun.

About the Program
CrossFit Hyperformance Kids uses a combination of skill practice, workouts and games to build strength and conditioning in children. Our classes include elements of gymnastics, weight lifting, body weight movements, running, jump roping, and more. Our goal is to make fitness FUN Specifically, CrossFit Hyperformance Kids teaches the 10 General Physical Skills. These skills are the base for any sport or discipline your child may pursue.

• Cardiorespiratory endurance
• Power
• strength
• stamina
• speed
• agility
• flexibility
• balance
• accuracy
• coordination

In addition to learning new skills, you will notice your child makes better food choices, is more focused in school, transitions to new sports easier, and has a reduced risk of sport-related injury.

Children and teens have a greater opportunity (relative to adults) to maximize their physical skills when exposed to this stimulus during years of peak development. The elements are combined to keep children engaged and entertained, while teaching them proper movement technique and creating a broad athletic foundation. Nutrition is also discussed as the basis of athletic performance and health within a supportive community. For CFK, it is imperative to pair fitness and fun, to create a lifelong love of health and fitness for our children.

CrossFit Hyperformance Kids “Little Heroes”, “Young Heroes” and “Heroes” programs create superheroes out of your children. At CrossFit Hyperformance there are no benchwarmers – everyone participates and discovers that FITNESS IS FUN!

Ages
Crossfit Hyperformance Kids program encompasses age 3-5 (little heroes), 6-10 (young heroes), and 10-13 (crossfit heros).  Age ranges are suggested.  Kid's coaches will determine the best fit for your child based on his or her developmental age and ability.

Expectations and Parental Support
Kids may attend as often as they can and want. If your child has a sport schedule, please speak with a CFK trainer to evaluate their schedule. We recommend CF be maintained even during sport season; discuss a “maintainence” schedule with your trainer.

Parent - trainer communication is vital to your child’s success. Speak with the trainer to let them know how they may best provide care for your child. Especially let them know if there are any special needs or medications or changes in health status (getting over an illness or growth spurts).

Parents are expected to remain in the building while their kids are participating in class.

Children should be dressed appropriately for active movement.  Tennis shoes, shorts, and cool clothes in the summer and layers in the winter.  They will be running, jumping, and spending a little time upside down (please no skirts).
